NTT DoCoMo announced on the 18th that it will start commercial service of the 5th generation communication (5G) on the 25th. The "5G Gigaho" pricing plan will have unlimited data usage capacity for the time being, with a monthly fee starting at 4,480 yen (excluding consumption tax), 500 yen more than the current "Gigaho" 4G plan. The company aims to set up 20,000 5G base stations by fiscal 2021 and 20 million subscribers by fiscal 2011. 500 5G base stations will be installed within the month. The service will be available at 150 locations, including major stadiums such as Yokohama International Stadium and Hanshin Koshien Stadium, major transportation and tourist facilities such as Haneda International Airport, JR Osaka Station and Tokyo Sky Tree, and some docomo shops.
